And whilst we regret to inform you that it will not hitting our beloved Kilburn High Road for a third year, it will be hitting the other corners of London’s generous streets.
Infact, some of the friends we made last year will be taking the festival back to Brick Lane for the second time running…
And if you enjoyed Oxjam last year, we’ve been told to tell you to expect a festival like none other right in the heart on London’s most vibrant areas, featuring reggae, drum n base, funk, swing, electro and indie with a twist. This year’s team are promising to showcase some on London’s finest bands, DJs and artists. Line-up and further information to be announced at www.oxjambricklane.com and on their Facebook Page.
With the launch party scheduled for on Thursday 4 August at The Star of Bethnal Green with support from Throwing Snow, Guy Andrews, James Fox & Count Chocula, we hope to see you there.

A huge big wonderful gigantic thank you to all of you poppets that made it down to Kilburn High Road this weekend! What a bloody great night eh?
And whilst the Oxjam Kilburn team catch up on some well deserved sleep after a couple of ‘pretty-much-non-stop’ weeks planning, organising and fundraising for this fabulous event, we promise to let you know about all the money we all helped raise for Oxfam very very soon.

So watch this space Oxjammers, and in the mean time we’ll leave you with a lovely blog from some friends we made Saturday evening called the Sounds of the Camper Van, who go around as many music festivals as they can, to record as many great bands as possible. Lovely. Enjoy.

With just two days to go, the Oxjam Kilburn Takeover is almost upon us and we are so excited to have the Amazing Radio team involved (as I am sure we have already told you!).
As you all know this Saturday, five venues on London’s Kilburn High Road are playing host to some brilliant live music, all in the name of super charity Oxfam, and Amazing Radio will be taking ownership of the stage at Power’s. Here you’ll be able to see live performances from artists Toys With Knives, Chapter 24, Phantom, Red Drapes and our headliners, Spring Offensive, as well as performances from Northwest London band Martha Makes Mistakes & Gifts for Givers, and new to the line-up BBC Introducing
Beatie Wolfe (check out the SoundCloud below Oxjammers). And then as night dawns upon us, we’ll have DJ sets from
The Islington Boys Club and Club.The.Mammoth (which you can also have a little listen to below).
Remember, you can buy advance tickets for the Oxjam Kilburn Takeover for just £10 by clicking here. The ticket will get you access to all five venues on Kilburn High Road on Saturday 23 October, with the live music getting underway at 4pm. The Amazing Radio team will be out in force, so come down and say hi!
Keep listening to Amazing Radio and checking out there website to hear Oxjam-related news in the lead-up to the event on Saturday week. Should be a belter. See you down the front!
Cheeri-bye loves,
The Oxjam Kilburn team & Amazing Radio

Opening the Festival at The Good Ship from 4pm will be the amazing Antlered Man, who promise to get the party started with a kick. Ten bands will then be performing at The Ship throughout the day leading up to headliner & winner of “Best Female Solo Artist” and “Best Soul/Funk/Blues Artist” at this years’ ‘The People’s Music Awards’ 2010, Tara London. Finally the phenomenal, alternative electronica of Rubicks will rock the stage before we let Rinse FMs Big Beatz plus guests play out til 4am!
So, who else do we have on this fantastic bill? Well let me tell you, there will be Wildfire (not to be confused with an uncontrolled fire in combustible vegetation that occurs in the countryside or a wilderness area), ICMP student Abi Murray, ambient experimental alternative’s Something like Fire (again not to be confused with, erm, more fire), the fresh, new and exciting sounds of the Vaults and the Gavels.
So why not give your ears a treat, and have a little listen? All links will take you to the artists’ myspace or Facebook pages.
See you in The Good Ship this Saturday Oxjammers.

Let us tell you about what’s happening at the King’s Head stage this Saturday…
So, we’ve already told you about the Hit or Miss DJs who will be tying up the evening with their eclectic collection of sounds, but “what the heck is happening throughout the rest of the day” we hear you cry! Well let me tell you this, you’re in for a treat Oxjammers! Not only do we local bands Dave Tither and Daniel Hadley kicking off the festivities at 6:30pm, but we also acts from grim artist English, hip hopper Abiade and headliners Dead Red Sun!

So, let’s start with Abiade. This man represents a ‘new wave’ for the Hip Hop scene ladies and gents. 2010 has been a very good year for him already and has seen him build on his successes with a residency hosting and performing at North London haunt, the Camden Proud Galleries and has seen him headline at the O2 Academy Oxford, as well as some very successful performance including one at West London’s very own Notting Hill Arts Club.
He’s been making music for 10 years now and is slowly establishing himself as somewhat of a triple threat musically, honing his singing skills along the way, Abiade’s first mixtape The Warm Up was a demonstration of his lyrical ability, versatility as a producer and a display of his fearless approach to tackling an array of different styles. With zero lead up or promo, this was downloaded just under 1000 times.
Pretty good eh? Why not add to the numbers by having a little download yourself! And if he tickles your fancy join us at King’s Head this Saturday and see the man perform in person!
Know how about a little from Dead Red Sun…

The band is made up of bassist Ollie, drummer Tom and guitarist Mike. Together they create massive, atmospheric instrumental music that leaves a real impression Oxjammers! Based in New Cross, London, DRS have already begun carving out a name for themselves, playing at a host of venues all over London.
Best seen live, DRS take influences from everywhere, and remain difficult to define to a genre, but we’ll tall you this, one thing is for sure that they are not to be missed!

As as for English, best thing to do is have a little listen. Because everyone likes a little grim.
Tempted yet? you’d be mad not to be. £10 tickets still available from wegottickets. Get ‘em while they’re hot!

Okay Boris. So there’s no doubt that the London Underground may need a little TLC, but really?! Boris! Does it have to be this weekend?!
That’s right, unfortunately on the weekend of our much anticipated Oxjam Kilburn Takeover, there will be repairs taking place all over the Northwest London train services. Darn it.
So here’s the damage;
Next weekend there will be no service between Stanmore and West Hampstead and between Green Park and Waterloo, and no service between Stanmore and Waterloo before 0800 and again after 2100. However, we have heard that there will be rail replacement buses operating on the day which may increase journey times up to 45 minutes.
Even though the TFL website says there’ll be no service on Sunday 24 October, it’s probably best that you double check your jounrey just in case you were planning on using the Overground
Best thing to do Oxjammer’s before leaving your home’s on Saturday morning is to check how your getting to Kilburn High Road, using the nifty widget below and maybe thinking about replanning your journey. Just type in NW6 7JR for Kilburn High Road.
Make sure you get yourselves home safe tonight Oxjammers and we look forward to seeing you safe, sound & undisrupted by the LU disruptions this Saturday, with your dancing shoes at the ready.
Nat King Cole will tell you how it is, whilst Fred & Ginger show you how it’s done. And for your comical pleasure, here’s how not to do it, the Boris dancing way.
Stay safe,
The Oxjam Kilburn team
